Welcome Stephany to the team! Stephany is our newest member and brings in lots of knowledge to share. We are super excited to have her :) Icebreaker of the meeting: N/A! Here is what the Physical Design team worked on: 1. Nicole updated the team with the results from her four trials! Check out her results in the Google Drive here! 2. We also continued to work with our groups on how to implement better materials to get better results. 3. Some photos from Nicole's trials down below! Here is what the Chemical Analysis team worked on: 1. Today we mixed and tested our first trial! 2. We decided on how we will measure alum, pickling lime, and turbidity. For alum and pickling lime, we used the lid (~1.5 cm) of the test tube as a standard. For turbidity, we measured the distance from the edge of the beaker closest to us to where we could first see the stirring rod. 3. We paired up! Each pair placed the same amount of pickling lime and alum into the 450 mL water mix. 4. We measured TDS, EC, temperature, and pH with our cool turbidimeter and pH paper after mixing. 5. We placed in our alum and pickling lime amounts and waited for settling. Then we measured turbidity, TDS, EC, temperature, and pH again! 6. Check out our results here! Graham and Taylor had the "clearest" water! Woah! 7. Next time, we will be testing our second trials using Graham and Taylor's alum and pickling time combination (with slight variations). Something to look forward to! 8. Check out our team pics below! Missing Jeremy... :,( Announcements:
Our next meeting will be 2/27/2021 at 7:00 PM PST! It will be our last meeting of the quarter... We are still planning on updating our social media and wanted to make it more inclusive with our members! We will be doing officer, chemical team, and physical team spotlights for our audience to get to know all our hard working members! Something to look forward to!
